004. 4 Reasons to Hire an Interior Designer
And an end of 2023 note.
We are officially in the midst of the bustling holiday season, which means the new year is just around the corner. At JMI, we’ve been busy closing out projects and bringing others to a hiatus point for the holiday break. Now is also the time I start to think about and plan for the changes and intentions I want to implement in the new year, so that on January 1, 2024, I can hit the ground running. We have 2 weeks left until the end of the year, and I am using this time to set intentions and rest and refuel for the upcoming year (this is your friendly reminder if you haven’t started already). It’s so important to get ahead for yourself so you can feel in charge and in control of your life. Personally, I know there’s more I can bring creatively and productively to my designs and business. I love to find ways to reinvent myself and bring innovations to my projects in the year to come.
If one of your intentions is to make a change (or many) to your home next year, I want to share with you some ways interior design and hiring a designer can help you. You might have feelings of being overwhelmed by the sheer thought of designing a space, confused about where to start (or finish), commitment issues in picking the perfect piece(s), or not knowing how much to spend and where to allocate your funds. 4 reasons to hire an interior designer:
- We’re experts! A designer will think about all aspects of the space from the beginning, making sure everything is connected and in line with the initial vision. Interior designers have a trained sense of what needs to be done, how ideas should be executed, and who needs to do it, along with knowledge and anticipation of any potential obstacles along the way.
- We have great ideas! Interior designers are known for their innovative and out-of-the-box ideas — you will have a space that is unique to your style and personality (instead of the big-box retailer look everyone has). We know what colors, textures, and materials work best together, and which environments they thrive in.
- We’ll save you money on common mistakes, like choosing a furniture piece based on cost but it doesn’t stand the test of time (or clumsy kids), or re-painting the walls 3 or 4 times because the color looks different on the wall than from the swatch, or a piece of furniture doesn’t fit through your door, etc. You name it, we’ve been through it all. We’ll get it done right, once and for all — why take on the risk all yourself with no guarantee you will end up with what you want?
- Take back your time! Time is the one factor that is continuously moving forward and that we can never get back. If you’ve ever designed a space yourself, you know how much time you spend picking out and executing every detail. It takes time to source each piece online, go to the showroom to double check that you love it, measure to make sure it actually fits, make sure the colors of each piece work with each other, re-selecting pieces over and over again until you get the perfect grouping of pieces, and of course (the worst part) waiting for the delivery! (Am I the only one who wants my order as soon as I click “purchase”?!) Think of all of the things you could’ve done in this time.
