Tribeca Apartment

As first-time homeowners, this newlywed couple was short on ideas for designing their new Tribeca apartment. That’s where I come in (cue Beyonce “That Girl”). The first thing my eye went to was the beautifully arched windows with a view of Jersey City across the pond. We all want our first home (renting or owning) to be a showstopper, a true expression of ourselves, and a place to be proud to show off to our friends and family (myself included). But with first-time homeowners in particular, I often find they are intimidated by where to start in the design process and are hesitant to commit to making any design decisions. I can’t say I blame them. In today’s world of endless scrolling, there are countless photos of spaces that have you questioning whether to create a bright or a moody space, to show off all your prize possessions or to keep things minimalistic, modern or traditionally designed space, and so on. All of these decisions can leave you feeling lost, confused, and exhausted, and my clients were prime examples. In our time working together, I was able to narrow in on their design style and create a home they absolutely adore. Come on in!

As the elevator doors open, we are greeted by a white-oak fluted wood console, which offers a peek into the bright and airy dining room.

The dining room features a marble and bronze table from Interlude Home, Restoration Hardware dining chairs, and a Parisian custom made light fixture by Elsa Foulon.

With a large open floor plan and beautifully arched windows, this living space features a large sectional perfect for hosting game nights.

Mood: I never want to leave this place. This beautiful corner of the living room features cozy suede swivel chairs, a beautiful marble side table, and nesting coffee tables to give a layered, yet minimalist feel.

Designer tip: sheer curtains are a great way to hide unsightly views while allowing the light to flow in.

No primary bedroom is complete without a custom designed headboard. I love to design using a mix of materials to add layers of interest to a space. For this headboard, I used linen upholstered panels, bronze-tinted mirrors, and white-washed stained oak as a frame. The mirrors beautifully bounce off light from the opposite window and linear hanging sconce from Pelle.
